According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the number of property sales made to foreign investors increased fivefold between 2019 and 2021. Based on statistics provided by TurkStat, foreigners purchased 40,077 properties so far this year, up 416% year-on-year. In April 2021, more than 95,863 properties were sold to foreigners, 124% higher than the same month the year before.
Most of those sales in April were made in Istanbul, with 2,009 sales, followed by Antalya with 859, and Ankara with 228. Iran nationals purchased 557 properties in April, putting them at the top of the list of foreign buyers. But they are followed by Iraqis with 546, and Russians with 402 purchases.
According to TurkSat, home sales to foreign investors increased 19% on an annual basis to 13,964 at the beginning of this year.
